Geo Lastomirsky first enrolled
in a ceramics class on a whim at the University of Bridgeport in 1972.
Moving across the country to the Pacific Northwest coast, he came to the
realization that the largest pieces are small against the backdrop of
the mountains and trees. He returned to school at Kansas City Art Institute.
After relocating to Seattle, Geo was among the first Western potters to
visit Yiching, China in 1996. He continues to be influenced by the legendary
Yiching teapots, as well as the Cascades, the Grand Canyon, and of course
his own dreams and passions. “ I’ve been distilling the stories
and influences of my life into vessels with cool, hard edge geometry,
the warmth, asymmetry and imbalance of nature, and the emotional drama
of the human figure.” |
